Sometimes the best ideas are born out of need. Clare Vivier was working at a French television network and couldn’t find a great bag to hold her computer and everything she needed for her busy life of work and travel. There were plenty on the market for men, but nothing chic that worked for women. She knew how to sew, so she went ahead and made herself the perfect laptop bag.
Years later she decided to get serious, take the plunge and start her own line Clare
Vivier. The bags began to acquire a quiet cult following and at the same time she was blogging. Her blog became a success in its own right and when she did a post “I’ve Got Your Summer Tote” with a photograph of
the Tropezienne bag (the brown one pictured left) things suddenly took off. The bag went viral, people loved it and everyone wanted it. Suddenly her bags exploded and the phone rang off the hook. That was 2 1/2 years ago and she was so busy she had to hire her first member of staff. Now she has a staff of 7 people, all based in her Los Angeles studio. The bags are proudly manufactured in Los Angeles. This allows Clare and her creative team to source
extraordinary leather and decide which design would be perfect for each particular piece, making for gorgeous quality hand picked leather in bold stylish designs.
We love the designs. They are classic with a modern twist, beautifully finished and best of all, incredibly well priced. It makes us feel terribly clever to sport a great bag that nobody else has, but in this case, lots of smart retailers have discovered them. Sold around the world in over 200 locations, they can be found in New
York at hip Brooklyn boutique Jumelle in Williamsburg as well as Steven Alan and Theory. We think we’ve found our perfect summer tote.

loved this post. Really like the green clutch/laptop bag in the last photo. Thanks for sharing! X
