When it snows in the City we always head to Central Park and afterwards for lunch at Bouchon Bakery in the Time Warner Centre. We love eating weekend lunch here for two basic reasons. One, the view over Central Park is breathtaking and two they make the best tomato soup with grilled cheese we’ve found anywhere. They serve an array of wonderful salads and other brunch dishes too but strangely the wonderful tomato soup and grilled cheese is not found on the menu. Instead for reasons unknown, it’s a secret that’s always available that you can only order if you know about it.

Bouchon Bakery is owned by Thomas Keller, whose restaurant, the French Laundry in California, is routinely described as the best in the United States. There is usually at least an hour wait for tables on the weekend at Bouchon, our strategy is to head straight there, put our names on the list and then either do a spot of shopping in the Time Warner Centre or head out to the park, arriving back at the designated time for lunch.
After lunch, we stroll a few feet to the actual bakery counter of Bouchon Bakery and order an incredible hand-made cookie or two to take home for later.
